Fedor Emelianenko dropped a bombshell on the mixed martial arts community at “DYNAMITE” on Saturday evening when it was announced he would NOT be fighting for either Bellator or the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Instead, “The Last Emperor” will be squaring off in the main-event of brand new Japan based MMA promotion! The card is set to take place on New Year’s Eve and will mark Fedor’s first fight in Japan since 2011.

There is SOME hope for Emelianenko to make his way to the octagon in the coming years, however, as he only signed a two fight deal with the promotion according to MMA Fighting. The announcement of Fedor’s signing with the promotion was made by former PRIDE FC President Nobuyuki Sakakibara. The New Year’s Eve show will air on Spike TV and there is likely a partnership between Bellator and the promotion. It has been made clear, however, that Fedor is contracted by the Japanese promotion and NOT Bellator.

“The Last Emperor” is undefeated in New Year’s Eve competition at 6-0. Do you think there is a chance he loses his return fight? Who do you want it to be against? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
