ESPN Ranks the Bantamweights; Big Drop for Champion

August 30, 2012 12:25 pm by Sean McClure

ESPN released their latest 135 pound rankings. The Bantamweights stack up well against each other overall, but the top three spots continue to be locked down by Urijah Faber, UFC Interim Champion Renan Barao, and Champion Dominick Cruz.

One of the biggest drops in the list was Eduardo Dantes who slid from number five down to number nine. The Bellator Champion found himself unconscious on the receiving end of a KO. Dantes competed in a Shooto fight that got little coverage if any at all. Despite the loss, he gets to keep the belt, but the knockout was damaging to his image and stock as a champion.

Here is the complete list:

1 Dominick Cruz 19-1-0

2 Renan Barao 29-1-0

3 Urijah Faber 26-6-0

4 Michael McDonald 15-1-0

5 Brian Bowles 10-2-0

6 Bibiano Fernandes 11-3-0

7 Eddie Wineland 19-8-1

8 Brad Pickett 21-6-0

9 Eduardo Dantas 14-3-0

10 Chris Cariaso 14-3-0
