By Chris Taylor - March 7, 2013

It was announced today that a welterweight match-up between Erick Silva (14-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and John Hathaway (17-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) has been made official for the UFC on FUEL TV 10 event, which will also serve as the finale for the second season of the “Ultimate Fighter: Brazil”.

Erick Silva, who was recently forced to pull out of a UFC 156 bout with Jay Hieron due to an injury, will be looking to rebound from a loss he suffered to Jon Fitch this past October. The UFC 153 contest with Fitch may have earned Silva “Fight of the night” honors, but the decision ultimately sent him down the welterweight rankings. Silva will be looking to return to the form that saw him score first-round stoppages over Luis Ramos and Charlie Brenneman.

Meanwhile, Silva’s opponent John Hathaway will be looking to make it 4 straight wins when he returns to the octagon this June. The English welterweight standout has defeated opponents Kris McCray, Pascal Krauss and John Maguire during his current 3-fight win streak. The 25-year-olds lone UFC setback came agaisnt veteran Mike Pyle at UFC 120, a fight he lost by decision.

“TUF: Brazil 2” is expected to air March 17 on Globo and features coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.

The UFC on FUEL TV 10 event is expected to take place June 8 at the Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The event’s main card airs on FUEL TV following the prelims on Facebook.
