Efrain Escudero vs. Cesar Avila Set For Saturday’s Bellator 55 Event

A last minute bout has been added to this weekend’s Bellator 55 event and it comes in the form of a lightweight contest between TUF 8 winner Efrain Escudero and Cesar Avila.

Bellator officials announced the bout this morning.

Bellator 55 is set to take place from the Cocopah Resort and Casino in Yuma, Ariz and features a main event between Marcos Galvoa and Alexis Vila. The main card is set to air live onMTV2.

The Escudero vs. Avila match up will round out the evening’s preliminary card action and can be viewed on Spike.com.

Escudero was released by the UFC following a 2-3 stint inside the promotion. His post UFC career has seen him pick up four wins in his last five outings with his lone loss coming way of Fabricio Camoes under the Tachi Palace banner. The Arizona resident will now make his Bellator debut.

Avila hails from the great state of California and has notched an impressive six wins all by stoppage in his short career. He was last seen besting Luis Magana via submission in the very first-round.

The Bellator 55 card now includes:

• Marcos Galvao vs. Alexis Vila (bantamweight tourney semifinal)
• Eduardo Dantas vs. Ed West (bantamweight tourney semifinal)
• Champ Christian M’Pumbu vs. Travis Wiuff (non-title light-heavyweight fight)
• Ricardo Tirloni vs. Steve Gable

• Cesar Avila vs. Efrain Escudero
• Carlos Flores vs. Richard Hale
• Edgar Garcia vs. Jacob Ortiz
• Erin Beach vs. Roscoe Jackson
• Nick Piedmont vs. Jade Porter
• Dano Moore vs. Steve Steinbeiss
