Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller headlines UFC Fight Night 45

By Chris Taylor - May 2, 2014

A key lightweight bout will headline the UFC’s return to Atlantic City this July, as UFC officials recently announced that Donald Cerrone will meet Jim Miller in a five-round contest at “UFC Fight Night 45.”

Jim Miller (24-4 MMA, 13-3 UFC) is coming off a first-round submission victory over Yancy Medeiros, which he earned just a week ago at UFC 172 in Baltimore. That first-round submission victory marked Miller’s second in a row, as he had previously submitted Fabricio Camoes at December’s UFC 168 event in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (23-6 MMA, 10-3 UFC) recently earned his third-straight octagon victory, this by submitting Edson Barboza at April’s ‘UFC on FOX 11’ event in Orlando. That victory netted “Cowboy” a $50k “Performance of the night” bonus, which marked his third bonus in as many fights. Prior to the Barboza scrap, Cerrone defeated Adriano Martins with a highlight reel head-kick KO at ‘UFC on FOX 10.’

The ‘UFC Fight Night 45’ event takes place July 16 live from Atlantic City’s Revel Casino Hotel. The evening’s main card airs on FOX Sports 1, following the prelims which are set to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
