It was announced yesterday that bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz had suffered a groin tear and would have to withdraw from his bout with interim champion Renan Barao as well as vacate his bantamweight title. The long anticipated return of Cruz was slated for February 1st in New Jersey. Now with Cruz leaving a void in the main event of a stacked PPV card, Urijah Faber stepped up to fight a rematch against Renan Barao.

Cruz suffered an ACL tear in May of 2012, forcing him out of his bout with longtime rival Urijah Faber. Several months later in December of 2012, it seemed Cruz was on the road to recovery before he announced his body had rejected the ACL implant he received from a cadaver and he would be forced to undergo surgery and take another six to nine months off.

We would like to wish Dominick Cruz a speedy recover and we hope to see him in the Octagon again soon.
