Diego Sanchez Picks Melendez to Beat Anthony Pettis

Diego Sanchez is never shy when it comes to his predictions for fights, especially fights that he will be participating in. When he chooses, a common theme always seems to be fighters that leave everything in the Octagon and, win or lose, put on an outstanding performance for the fans (very much like his own fighting style). So when it comes down to two insanely talented fan-favorites like Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez, you would think that the decision might be a little harder.

“I believe [Melendez is] going to beat Anthony Pettis and become the champion,” Sanchez said. “I firmly believe that.”

Maybe not.

Using his own nail-biting performance against Melendez as the basis, he feels like not only is Gilbert champion material, but so is he. Sanchez is set to fight Ross Pearson this Saturday June 7, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM at UFC Fight Night 42.
