Daniel Cormier Wants Gustafsson for Interim Championship

Jon Jones has yet to sign the contract to fight Alexander Gustafsson. That doesn’t sit well with top lightheavyweight contender Daniel Cormier who wants to fight Alexander Gustafsson for an interim title belt while Jones makes up his mind.

Cormier spoke to Sportsworldnews.com about a potential interim bout with Gustafsson.

“I know this will probably be unpopular,” Cormier told the website. “But if [Jones] won’t sign, whether it be for money or a lack of wanting to fight the kid, I’ll fight Alexander Gustafsson. But it should be for the interim title.”

Interestingly enough Jones posted the following on Twitter this past weekend:
