Dana White Unsure If We Will Ever See ‘GSP’ In The Cage Again Following Second ACL Tear

If you were to ask Dana White, just a few weeks ago, if he believed that Georges St-Pierre would return to the sport of mixed martial arts, he would have told you “yes”.
But what about now, after “GSP” tore his left-knee ACL? Does Dana still hold the same opinion of GSP’s possible comeback? Or does this injury change his level of certainty?
Yeah, it definitely changes it.”, Dana said (via MMAFighting.com).
GSP has been here before. In 2011, he had surgery to repair his torn ACL… only it was his right knee that was damaged. The surgery was successful, but it left GSP on the sidelines for more than a year and a half. A year and a half to rest, and to complete an extensive, draining, and demanding rehabilitation schedule, in order to get him back in the cage and back fighting for the title he held for many, many years.
And although some people believe that GSP’s determination to prove that he can conquer this rehab, and his belief that he still has what it takes to reclaim his championship, well… that’s motivation enough. But Dana doesn’t seem to be so optimistic.
It’s tough to come back,” White said. “I just think giving up your belt is crazy, and then you have a plan, I’m going to give up the belt, I’m going to take some time off, I’m going to handle my stuff and come back, and then you blow your ACL out. You never know. Life throws all these curve balls at you, you never know what’s going to happen.
It’s like [Fabricio] Werdum, and we were talking about that today. He was off for so long, and then Cain [Velasquez] gets hurt and I’m like, you’ve got to fight man. You can’t do this stuff. You can’t take this time off because you never know what’s going to happen.”
