When the UFC President talked to the media today at the pre-UFC on FOX media session he updated everyone on the Matt Mitrione and Fallon Fox issue. He said he has talked to Mitrione and assured everyone he is not upset with him any longer. That’s great news for Mitrione’s future in the UFC, but he is still on an indefinite suspension and received a hefty fine.
“He did something stupid. He knows he did something stupid. He knows the way he said it, he didn’t handle it the right way. He knows he did, so I can respect that.” Said Dana White
As far as how long will Mitrione be suspended and exactly how much his Fallon Fox rant will cost the UFC Heavyweight? Dana White had this to say, “We’ll let him know when we decide (how long the suspension will last). He was fined, too – enough to make him call me three times. I bet he’ll think. I bet before words come out of his mouth … he’s going to go, ‘I better not say that. That’s not good. That’s going to cost me some money.”
Dana White even stated that it wasn’t that he totally disagrees with everything Mitrione said; it was how he said it. The UFC is pretty good about letting their fighters express their opinions as long as it’s done in a respectful and tasteful manner.
“It’s not that I don’t necessarily agree with what [Mitrione] was saying because I have the same issue with a man who becomes a woman,” White said. “You have different bone structure. You have a different jaw line. You have all the things of a man. It’s completely different. But he knew what he did was wrong. If he was standing in front of a panel or a judge, and he was arguing on why someone who used to be a man shouldn’t be allowed to fight a woman, he wouldn’t have said it the way that he said it. He would have said it completely different, and there’s nothing wrong with having a point of view.”Tags: Dana White, Fallon Fox, matt mitrione, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc news, UFC on FOX
