Dana White: Enhanced Drug Testing is Costing Us $2 Million

By bjpenndotcom - August 23, 2014

As Dana White made his way onto the stage for the “UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le” post-fight press conference, he mentioned that it would be a while before the fighters made their way to the stage as they were getting drug tested. When asked why they just started doing this now, White fired back at the media stating that they have been doing this is not the first time they drug tested fighters after a card.

“We’ve been talking about enhanced drug testing forever… We did it with Robbie Lawlor and Hendricks.” White passionately went on to explain just how thorough these tests are and how much it is costing the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“Enhanced drug testing consists of blood and urine samples. They’ll be tested for everything. If they drank too much caffeine yesterday, they’ll know…” White stated. He continued, “It’s close to 2 Million dollars in what we’re spending on enhanced drug testing. Nobody is taking it more serious than we are.”

Is this is a step in the right direction for the sport?
