Dan Henderson Signs New Six Fight Deal with the UFC

January 22, 2014 6:42 pm by Connor Woodard

It looks like Dan Henderson will be extending his stay with the Ultimate Fighting Championship a little bit longer. Despite what he called a “value issue” in the negotiations with the UFC, the two parties have come to terms on a new six-fight deal. The news was first announced on UFC Tonight, which stated that ” he didn’t get what he wanted but good enough. [Henderson is] Happy to end his career in the UFC.”

Henderson confirmed the news of both his resigning and his fight with “Shogun” Rua  on his Facebook page, saying “If you haven’t heard the news yet, as of today I will not be fighting in the UFC…but come March 23 I will be! Hendo vs Shogun II Ufc Fight Night 38.”

“Hendo” isn’t necessarily guaranteed 6 fights. He’s lost three fights in a row, most recently suffering a brutal first round KO loss to Vitor Belfort, after dropping a pair of split decisions to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans. His fight with Shogun most likely represents a must-win if he wishes to stay in UFC, though the legendary Henderson might be on a longer leash than most.
