Daniel Cormier no longer has to wonder who he is fighting next. It was reported by USA Today Wednesday night that the heavy hitting Strikeforce fighter would be fighting former UFC Champion Frank Mir. Strikeforce has a dwindling roster of heavyweight athletes so the booking of this bout isn’t that surprising.

“There has been a lot of speculation as to who Cormier would fight next, and this is the fight that makes the most sense,” UFC president Dana White told USA Today. “The reality is, Cormier is one of the best heavyweights in the world”.

This fight does make a lot of sense for both fighters and the organizations as well. Dana further explained the pairing of the two.

“He just won the grand prix and beat Josh Barnett. He needs to fight opponents of that caliber, and Frank Mir is that guy.”

No date or venue has been given for the fight, but they are expected to be announced soon.

Mir has the experience, but Cormier is on a roll. Who wins?
