Because Constantinos Philippou recently lost a lackluster split decision to Francis Carmont, he is eager to make this next fight against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night 35 on Jan. 15 a good one.
“I want excitement. I’m going for [the] ‘Fight of the Fight’ [bonus] . No matter what the result will be. I want to win, but I want people to remember this fight,” Philippou told MMAJunkie Radio.
More than likely, the fight will be contested on the feet, as both men are talented strikers.
“Watching his fights, I see he likes to strike, and I’m hoping that will be his game plan, [and] there’s no secret what I want to do,” Philippou said.
After Philippou’s last fight against Carmont, he has something to prove.
“I can’t have another boring fight like that.vI just want to get in and have an exciting fight so I can show everybody that that wasn’t me there last time,” he said.
“It was a boring fight. He laid on top of me,” Philippou added. “[It was] my fault, not his fault. I wasn’t able to get him off of me.”
