Conor McGregor: I’m Out Here Working to Become The Greatest

No one has ever described Conor McGregor as shy and soft-spoken, and now that he’s getting closer to his return to the Octagon, he’s making all of his intentions loud and clear. While some fighters compete simply for the love of fighting, McGregor wants everyone to know that he’s here with a goal in mind: he wants the belt and he wants to be the best ever, not just another good fighter. For right now, he’s even using his recent ACL injury and the subsequent time off as an experience for growth.

“You know, when I’m really, really tired, complaining about the [weight] cut or complaining about the hard training, I’m gonna look back on this and think don’t take this for granted.” McGregor told media members on the UFC Dublin conference call, “For me, this calms me. I needed this in my life. The fact that it was taken away from me for a while, and now that it is back, I honestly feel like I am a better athlete for it. I know more about the human body, more about rehabilitation, more about pre-habilitation, and pre-injury workouts.”
McGregor is set to square off against Cole Miller in July, but his mind is already extended to the title, his goals, and the hall of fame.

“From the day I signed last year, my eyes have been on the goal. Anyone that is in my way is in the firing line. I’m doing it the right way. So many [of these guys] have no aspirations to win the UFC belt. They shouldn’t be there. Cole [Miller] I believes he is one of them. What’s his aspiration? Have you heard Cole once mention the belt? I’m out here working to become the greatest. That is my goal.
