Conor McGregor Believes There Should Be No Judging Or Time Limits In MMA

Mixed Martial Arts has come a long way from the no-holds-barred fighting of the past, but many problematic issues still exist today, most notably judging.

Many analysts and fans have debated endlessly about what can be done to fix the issue, but UFC featherweight “The Notorious” Conor McGregor believes there is a simple solution.

I would love to scratch it all and do no time limit, no separation, no nothing,” He said at the UFC Fight Night 30 Q&A session in Manchester, England. “Let the contest go and it’s over when it’s over.”

McGregor also believes that judges should be responsible for their decisions. “It’s definitely good to put the judges under the spotlight and make them accountable for their actions,” he said. “It will make guys more cautious and more hesitant to score the guy correctly.”

Dana White himself has commented on the issue, continuously saying that if fighters want to stay away from bad judges decisions, they should finish fights. Fans also enjoy finishes, and Mcgregor said “People say, ‘We want a finish!’ Trust me, someone will break, no time (limit), a man will break.”

Now obviously, this idea is something that is not realistic in the current athletic commission ruled landscape of MMA. Because the judging issue is so prevalent, decisions are something that McGregor tends to stay away from. Out of his 14 total wins, 12 have been by knockout, and he has won one fight by submission. Only one of his fights has gone to a decision, and that was his most recent fight against Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26.

McGregor is currently out with an ACL injury, and plans to be back by early 2014.
