Carlos Condit announced recently that he was willing to give Nick Diaz a chance to redeem his loss, but Diaz turned it down.
Back in February of 2012 Carlos Condit defeated Nick Diaz for the UFC Interim Welterweight title via decision. He announced through a UFC 171 media call that he offered Diaz a rematch and it was turned down.
Here is what he had to say:
“The fight was offered to me. I agreed,” said Condit. (It’s) probably a rematch a lot of people want to see, a lot of hype, a lot of buzz. It’s the type of fight I want to be in, so you know, I pretty much agreed right off the bat.
“Nick, for whatever reason, I’m sure he’s got his reasons, didn’t take the fight. But in the future I would be interested in the fight. I think rematches are always intriguing, especially when they’re close like that one.”
However, I’m sure that Condit has been eased with the announcement by the UFC that if he comes out victorious at UFC 171 then he will be next in line for a shot at the UFC welterweight crown.
Who needs Nick Diaz anyway? Although it would be a very interesting rematch to watch I’m sure Condit is just fine with a title shot instead. First things first however as Condit will have to come out victorious at UFC 171 in his bout against Tyron Woodley first before he begins to think about a title shot.
Woodley and Condit are set to face off at UFC 171 this March 15th in Dallas, Texas.
