Common practice for Jon Jones to party hard weeks out from title defense fights

By Russell Ess - November 24, 2015

Former UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones felt untouchable during his reign as champion.

The in-depth interview with MMA Fighting featuring the fighter who is looking to return and make his mark as one of the greatest ever, talked about the lifestyle he lived while being the king of the light heavyweight division.

“Yeah, it was common for me. You know, I was a guy who . . . loved to party man,” Jones said. “I was able to win my fights, and I felt it really wasn’t affecting me that bad. You know I would go out on the weekend, and then Monday morning I’d be the first guy at practice working harder than everybody else, so I felt as though I could get away with that.”

Jones has said he has been living a clean life not smoking or drinking. After being sentenced to 18 months of probation along with 72 required appearances for community service back in September, the former champion will have to make sure he walks a straight line or face consequences with the law.

Will the new lifestyle change make for an even more dominant Jon Jones? Time will only tell what is in store for the talented former champion that has often been in the debate as one of the greatest of all time.
