The always classy and humble, Junior Dos Santos recently spoke to MMA Fighting about the back and forth between UFC President Dana White and heavyweight Alistair Overeem. (If you aren’t aware of what’s being thrown around between these two, Alistair has been propositioned to fight “Cigano” twice since his last bout. Both times, “the Reem” has refused. Dana literally said that Overeem was hiding from Dos Santos and Overeem claimed a rib injury as his excuse. ) According to Dos Santos, he doesn’t feel that Overeem is ducking anything, he just might not be interested enough.
“No, I don’t know the reason he (White) said that. But, you know, we are fighters and we fight, that’s it. I don’t know, maybe this fight is not very interesting for him at this time. So, I don’t care too much about it. This guy is a tough guy. But we have so many tough guys in the heavyweight division in UFC so I know they can find another one to fight against me. I don’t have too much to say about it because that was between them.”
While we don’t know the exact reason behind Overeem’s constant refusals, what we do know is that Dos Santos isn’t spending too much time focusing on it, and is instead looking for his next opponent on the way the heavyweight belt.
