John Hackleman, renowned coach of current UFC light heavyweight No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira and former UFC light heavyweight king Chuck ‘The Ice-Man’ Liddell, took some time with Submission Radio to discuss the chatter regarding Jon Jones, and his supposed lack of concern toward his next opponent.
“I don’t really pay attention to who’s overlooking who,” stated Hackleman. “But if he’s doing that, that’s kind of rude and kind of a slap in the face to Glover and it’s pretty disrespectful.”
Hackleman also decided to take a crack at the current champ’s popularity, stating that he is not within the fan’s good graces like the former UFC light heavyweight king Chuck Liddell was in his heyday.
“If the fans are doing that then whatever, that’s fans, but if Jon Jones is really doing that which I don’t think he really is then to me that’s just disrespectful and rude and that’s maybe why, you know, people don’t love him like they did Chuck.”
Albeit, it may be a little harsh on the champ to try and compare his popularity to the Hall of Famer, but none the less, Hackleman has a point.
Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira are set to face off at UFC 172, scheduled for Saturday, April 26 in Baltimore, MD.
