As the newly crowned UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman prepares to defend his title against the man he took it from he is constantly questioned. One of the biggest of these questions is how the champ feels about the first time he faced “The Spider” and what he plans to do to insure his victory yet again.
“I’m not a big fan of the first fight,” Weidman told MMA Junkie. “I don’t think I looked that good, to be honest with you. I know I can be a lot better.”
“I was coming off that year layoff, had two surgeries, so I felt a little rusty in there,” he said. “There are some things I didn’t do. I’m very critical of myself, so there are a lot of things I assume I could have done differently.”
Weidman touched on some of the questions he’s been facing as of late.
“Some of the questions I hear often are, ‘What do I think Anderson Silva’s going to do in this fight?’ ‘Do I think Anderson Silva is going to be playing around in this fight?’ ‘What do I expect from him?’ I don’t expect anything,” Says Weidman. “I don’t really care, I’m just going in there to fight my fight, so when people ask me those questions, it’s the first time I really think about it. I don’t think about what he’s going to be doing.”
