Chris Weidman isn’t just a fighter, but a philanthropist as well. According to Ben Fowlkes of USA Today, the Middleweight Champion was inspired to participate in a youth wrestling clinic after seeing the story of a 6-year-old wrestler named Isaiah Bird on Facebook. Isaiah is not only homeless, but was born with no legs. Weidman was touched by the story, and through his clinic, raised over $14,000 to help Isaiah and his family.

“That’s why you want to become champion and be an influence, so you can help other people out,” Weidman told USA Today. “There are times when you’re busy, you get pulled in so many different directions, and you feel like you don’t want to do anything. But you have to remember what it’s really about…He’s just an awesome kid, and he has no idea he has any issues at all…You hear about a 6-year-old kid living on the streets with his mom and his brother, no legs, no wheelchair, and he loves wrestling. That touched me.”
