Just as many fight fans assumed, when self-proclaimed bad guy Chael Sonnen officially announced his retirement on UFC Tonight a little more than a week ago, it would not be the last we would see of him.
Just a few days after the announcement of his retirement, rumors began to swirl that The American Gangster had signed on to compete in Metamoris 4 on August 9 in Los Angeles. Metamoris is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu promotion that exclusively presents submission-only fights. Many top-level fighters from the UFC and other organizations have fought in Metamoris events such as Eddie Bravo, Brendan Schuab, Dean Lister, and Roger Gracie.
Sonnen is rumored to be facing Andre Galvao, a 12-time Pan American Jiu Jitsu fighter (with 11 golds and one silver) and a multiple-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club champion.
While there have been some reports of a possible confirmation floating around on Twitter and other social media, there has been no official confirmation of his involvement in the event.
