Ah, Chael Sonnen. Always stirring the pot. After making claims he would ask former long-time UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to help him coach the competitors on the upcoming Ultimate Fighter Brazil season, it now seems as though he has made it official.
Sonnen told MMAFighting.com “I have officially invited Anderson to coach TUF: Brazil as part of my staff.”
Sonnen decided to reach out to Silva’s manager Ed Soares, and Soares replied “I’ll talk to Anderson and get back to you.”
Sonnen and Silva have a long-standing rivalry, which reaches back to their first meeting at UFC 117, when the Sonnen we know today came out of his shell.
The new season of TUF Brazil features an all Brazilian cast, and will be coached by Sonnen and another rival of “The American Gangster,” long-time Pride middleweight champion and MMA legend Wanderlei Silva.
Wanderlei Silva and Sonnen will compete after the completion of the season, and Sonnen will look to bounce back after a first-round TKO loss last month to former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans. Wanderlei Silva will look to increase his winning streak to two after scoring a knockout victory over Brian Stann in March.
