It took nearly three rounds for UFC featherweight fighter, Chad Mendes, to score his fourth consecutive T/KO victory.  At UFC 164 this past Saturday, Mendes put emphasis on his position atop the 145 lb. division by stopping Clay Guida a man who had never suffered a KO/TKO loss before in his 44-fight professional career.

For Mendes, the fourth straight KO/TKO win left the fighter pretty happy.

It feels like a dream,” Mendes told Fox Sports, “it’s crazy.  I was expecting to finish [Guida], that was my goal, but four in a row, I just feel like ever time I step out of the Octagon lately I just have the same feeling.  It’s cool.”

With the Knockout of the Night winning performance under his belt, Mendes is only looking upward a point he emphasized after the fight by asking for current UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo.

I think I needed to go out there and finish Clay and make a statement that I am the best 145-pounder in the world, and I think I did that.  I think the next thing for me is that title shot.”

Aldo is the last and only man to defeat Mendes. The two-faced off at UFC 142, where Aldo stopped Mendes with a knee at the very last seconds of the first round.  Now, however, Aldo is out with an injury he suffered in his last title defense against Chan Sung Jung.  When he will be back and ready to fight remains to be seen.
