C.B. Dollaway Wants To Fight Tim Kennedy

By BJPENN.COM News - June 17, 2014

C.B. Dollaway is coming off a win over Francis Carmont, and is looking to keep it going with a fight against Tim Kennedy. Dollaway spoke to MMAjunkie.com about how much he made in his last fight, and how much he is looking to make in his next fight, and a potential matchup with Tim Kennedy.

About a month ago ‘The Doberman’ said he would be making $30,000 in his fight with Carmont, however he actually ended up making double that because he won the fight, and also won an additional $50,000 for ‘performance of the night’. Dollaway is now saying he is getting closer to his desired goal of making $50,000 a fight.

“Things are moving in the right direction. I took a gamble by going there, and it paid off. It looks like I’ll be getting a pretty good raise, and things are moving in the right direction.

“I’m going to be fighting more of the top echelon guys, too. With that money comes tougher opponents and bigger fights.”

“Some of the numbers that I’ve heard sound pretty good, so obviously not exactly where I want to be, but it’s better than the situation I’m in,” Dollaway said. “Win a couple more fights, and I can be right there.

Dollaway went on to talk about a potential opponent, ideally #6 ranked Tim Kennedy.

“I think Tim Kennedy is probably going to need a fight,” said Dollaway. “I think I match up with him well; I think strategically, it would be a good fight for me to move toward that title. At this point, you have to pick the right fights and maneuver yourself in the position to get a shot.”

Kennedy has plans of his own though, when asked who he wanted to fight next he texted back with: “He is ranked behind me. I want Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, Chris Weidman…”
