With a title eliminator against Alistair Overeem scheduled for the team “DEATHCLUTCH” fighter, and an intimate history with this weekend’s main event fighters, Lesnar will wear the hat of analyst during the UFC on Fox 1 one-hour broadcast.
UFC on Fox 1 is set to take place from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on November 12. Headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion, Cain Velasquez and contender, Junior Dos Santos the event marks the first UFC event on the network. The championship bout will air live on FOX and is available in 115 million homes nationwide.
Dana White explained the decision to include Lesnar on the broadcasting team during today’s media event.
“[Lesnar] fought Cain Velasquez for the title, and he was supposed to fight and was getting ready to fight Junior Dos Santos,” White said today during today’s conference call. “So his opinion is interesting. This show is going to focus on the heavyweights and the heavyweight championship.”
To be clear this is just an analyst role and Lesnar will not be calling the fight’s live. That job is still relegated to Joe Rogan and longtime ringside partner Mike Goldberg. However with a one-hour broadcast reserved for the UFC’s debut on network television and only one five-round fight, Lesnar’s placement on the team will help fill the airtime void during the pre and possibly post-fight events.
