One of the UFC’s favorite sons “All American” Brian Stann was recently forced to withdraw from his fight with Hector Lombard at UFC on FOX 4. Stann recently blogged about the injury that removed him from his highest profile fight to date in terms of visibility.

“Most of the fans already know that an injury has forced me to pull out of my main event fight with Hector Lombard. I suffered an AC Joint separation in my right shoulder while sparring with UFC Heavyweight Shawn Jordan. Shawn executed a “hip toss” which landed me directly on my AC joint with him on top of me. At 265 lbs my shoulder did not stand a chance. The Doctors confirmed that it is a Grade 2 separation which is usually a 6-8 week recovery without surgery. My injury has been joined by a lot of fellow fighters this summer, which has greatly disappointed the fans. Trust me, fighters hate injuries more than anyone because it greatly effects our financial situation. We cannot make money and pay bills if we don’t fight. In addition, I was more excited for this fight than any other previous bout. The opportunity to headline a UFC live on FOX against an opponent as highly regarded as Hector Lombard was a dream come true. Although a slight underdog, I felt like I had the abilities and skill necessary to defeat Hector. This injury has cost me an enormous opportunity in terms of earning a title shot and increasing my financial compensation. Fans who believe fighters fake injuries are truly naive when it comes to the industry. All I can do now is focus on my rehab and get back as soon as possible. Martial Arts has become part of who I am, not being able to train has completely thrown off the balance in my life. I am getting creative with ways I can exercise with one arm and stay in shape. I will be sure to post photos via instagram for you guys to enjoy!”
