Another bout has been added to Albuquerque’s first UFC show.
Bobby Voelker will meet Lance Benoist on the June card, which will be headlined by Benson Henderson taking on Albuquerque’s own Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter Rustam Khabilov. MMAJunkie reports that “No broadcast plans have been revealed for the card, though it’s likely to air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on UFC Fight Pass”.
Voelker’s UFC career looks to be in dire straits, as – after moving over from the now defunct Strikeforce – Voelker has officially struck out, with an 0-3 record. As Dana White has a penchant for cutting fighters after a third consecutive loss, Voelker should absolutely be treating this fight as “do or die”.
Benoist will be making his return after a broken leg sidelined him in 2012. Before that setback, Benoist was just 1-2 in the UFC, debuting with a “Fight of the Night” victory against Matt Riddle before dropping two decision losses. Benoist might not be 0-3, but he would be wise to consider himself on the bubble as well.
