Gilbert Burns, one of the MMA prospects coming out of Blackzilians team in Boca Raton Florida spoke on the Sexto Round Podcast about former Blackzilian teammate Alistair Overeem’s departure from the team.

“Overeem got mad because he was getting beat up by a guy with one hand, so he took Guto down and blew out his other knee. That’s why Guto hasn’t fought in a while. We were all upset about it, and that was when (Overeem) left the team. After he left, the team got better and we had better results. Thank God he left the team.”

For those who don’t know, Guto Inocente is signed the the UFC and was expected to make his debut in December of 2013 against Shane Del Rosario, however injuries forced both fighters off of the card.

Inocente confirmed the incident between himself and Overeem with mmafighting.com

“It was a kickboxing sparring. I was kicking his a– and he took me down. Unexpected.’

Burns went on to say:

“He’s cocky, and the team got better when he left. He’s really tough, but he’s not that monster that he appears to be. I saw him get beat up bad in training by Anthony Johnson, Rashad, Vitor and Tyrone.”

Burns, who goes by Durinho, is a three time BJJ world champion, and was the head BJJ coach on Team Belfort during TUF Brazil.
