Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight and Blackzilian team member Michael Johnson has high aspirations. Even though he is a part of arguably one of the toughest divisions in the sport, he still aims for the number one spot.
After a decision victory over Joe Lauzon (MMA 23-9, UFC 10-6) and a knockout victory over Gleison Tibau (MMA 28-10, UFC 13-8) Johnson has proved he is a threat to the UFC’s light weight division.
“I want the belt, and I want it pretty soon. I’m going to keep winning fights to do it,” Johnson told MMAJunkie.
Johnson doesn’t mind that the losses in his UFC career occurred, and said they were just learning experiences.
“Those losses don’t mean anything to me,” he said. “They’re just lessons. I might as well get through them early. Then when I’m at the top, those losses won’t happen.”
Although he isn’t looking for a particular opponent, Johnson is ready for anyone.
“I’m really not in the business of calling people out. I want anybody who is in front of me. If you’re in front of me, if you’re in a position in front of me, I want to fight you,” he said.
“Wherever I am in the rankings doesn’t matter,” he said. “Put someone in front of me who leads to the title, and I’ll beat them.”Tags: Gleison Tibau, Joe Lauzon, lightweight, Michael Johson, mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc news, ufc title
