Tim Kennedy’s relentless calling out of Michael Bisping might just pay off. In a recent fan Q&A before UFC Fight Night 33, he was asked about entertaining a fight with Kennedy. While recognizing that Kennedy is below him in most rankings, his reason for wanting to fight the US Army Sergeant is quite simple.
“Here’s the thing, and the answer is very, very simple why I would even entertain a fight with Tim Kennedy. He’s had two fights in the UFC against no marks, and he didn’t even look that good in those fights. He’s been calling me out for years, and at the start I didn’t want to respond to any of his tweets because it’s giving him what he wants, he’s trying to create a buzz about himself. But he’s been going on so much, he’s really driving me up the wall, and I just really, really want to punch him in the face so I might as well get paid for it.”
Bisping does readily point out that Kennedy is not his only option, however.
“In a perfect world, I want a fight that’s going to propel me toward a total fight. That’s still my dream. The middleweight division now is absolutely stacked, so probably Jacare, Machida, or Rockhold. The list is non-stop. Mark Munoz, me and him agreed to fight, so maybe there’s unfinished business there as well.”
In the end though, Bisping seemed ready to bring the conversation right back to Tim Kennedy.
“Tim Kennedy, he’s doing a good job of getting himself punched in the face if he carries on, so probably Tim Kennedy.”
Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC), most recently fought at UFC 159 in April, where he defeated Alan Belcher via technical decision. He’s been sidelined since then due to an eye injury, but hopes to return to action sometime in the Spring of 2014. Kennedy (17-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) most recently fought on the UFC Fight for the Troops 3 card in November, where he earned an impressive first round knock out victory over Rafael Natal.Tags: Michael Bisping, mma, MMA NEWS, Tim Kennedy, ufc, UFC FN 33, ufc news
