| The UFC is already starting to put together yet another UFC on FS1 card as it was rumored that the organization is looking to pit flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Jussier Formiga against each other in Brazil for UFC on FS1: 3 on September 4th, 2013.
Brazilian news outlet SporTV Globo first reported the flyweight battle but the UFC officials have yet officially confirmed the fight.
Benavidez, the worlds #1 ranked flyweight contender, will head into the fight looking to gain his third consecutive win as he hunts for his title rematch with UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. Benavidez lost the first fight against “Mighty Mouse” in a very close decision at UFC 152 in September of 2012. Since then he has been on a tear and is likely one win away from a rematch with The Champ. In his last two performances he’s put together a decision win over Ian McCall at UFC 156 and he beat down Darren Uyenoyama for a TKO at UFC on FOX 7 last April.
Formiga will head into the fight as the world’s #5 ranked contender. He’ll be riding into the bout following his first UFC win over Chris Cariaso at UFC on FX 8 last month. He lost his UFC debut against John Dodson before that bout. Jussier could launch himself right to the front of the contention line with a win over Benavidez in September in front of his home crowd.
UFC on FOX Sport 1 #3 is expected to take place somewhere in Brazil and will serve as the lead-in to The Ultimate Fighter season 18, featuring coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.
