Joseph Benavidez is getting another crack at a UFC title.
It was announced on Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1 that Benavidez (19-3) will face 125-pound champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1) in a rematch for the flyweight title at the TUF 18 Finale.
Benavidez and Johnson met a year ago this month for the inaugural flyweight title. In that fight at UFC 152, Johnson capped the four-man flyweight tournament with a split-decision victory.
“Mighty Mouse” has won twice since beating Benavidez. At UFC on FOX 6 in January, he won a unanimous decision over John Dodson. At UFC on FOX 8 in July, he submitted John Moraga in the fifth round.
Benavidez has won three straight since his loss to Johnson. He beat Ian McCall by unanimous decision at UFC 156 in February. In April he finished Darren Uyenoyama at UFC on FOX 7. Earlier this month, he finished Jussier Formiga in the first round at UFC Fight Night 28
The TUF 18 Finale takes place Nov. 30 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Johnson-Benavidez will headline the card that also features Gray Maynard against Nate Diaz.
