Bellator heavyweight puts Kimbo Slice on blast for dodging fight

By BJPENN.COM News - August 17, 2015

Kimbo Slice

Long before Kimbo Slice signed the dotted lines to face veteran Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138, the heavyweight brawler was originally in talks to face an up and coming Bellator fighter.

Lorenzo Hood claims he was supposed to be Slice’s first opponent in Bellator before “Slice/Shamrock” was announced. “I was in discussions to fight him in North Carolina last year,” Hood told MMA Junkie. “I was waiting for that, and his management team— I’m guessing they were in talks with Bellator already— said they didn’t like the fight. They said if he lost the fight, he wouldn’t get signed.”

Even though he has yet to step foot in the Bellator cage, Hood is a bit of a journey man in the world of mixed martial arts and is far from inexperienced. He has amassed an impressive record of nine wins with only two losses. Hood continued his verbal attack on Slice, accusing him of dodging the fight.

“He kind of backed out of it, and I’ve been looking to beat him up for a while. I didn’t like the way he dodged the fight. Then he goes and he’s talking about how he’s great at this and great at that.”

“‘Kimbo’ is going to have to get it, and I think he knows that. I hope he’s ready because I definitely will be.”

Hood makes his debut against Raphael Butler at “Bellator 141” on August 28th. Would you be interested in seeing Slice face Hood? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
