Current Bellator heavyweight champion has recently trained with Fedor Emelianenko and says the MMA legend hasn’t lost a step and is as good as ever ahead of his pending return to the sport.

Vitaly Minakov, Bellator’s champ, says he trained with Fedor and learned a lot from ‘The Last Emperor’. He also mentioned that Fedor’s speed and power is still there and he’s ready to make a comeback.

Here’s what he told FightNights.ru about the experience:

“We had a very good camp in Stary Oskol. We had a lot of heavyweight sparring partners. I learned a lot of new things and worked in tandem with Fedor Emelianenko. He gave me some useful tips and showed a few key painful methods in his arsenal such as Kimuras and things like that. I absorbed all this knowledge.”

“Now Fedor is in good shape. Technically he is still very good and has not lost anything in time. He still has very quick hands, hits very hard, and has good functional status. We are in touch with Fedor, and will interact constantly – it will be a mutually beneficial cooperation.”

What do you expect to happen with Fedor’s return? There is still no word on where he will end up, although some rumors have been swirling, saying he’s already signed with the UFC. But again, those are just whispers among the MMA universe, nothing substantialized by any means. So, where do you think he’ll end up fighting?
