Gonzalez’s manager, Dave Hirschbein of MMAGOLD, first confirmed the bout with MMAjunkie, although the organization hasn’t made an official announcement. WSOF 4 is scheduled to take place on August 10th at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The main card is set to air on NBC Sports Network but it is not clear if McKee vs. Gonzalez will be placed on the main-card or the prelims.
McKee recently was on a 17-1-1 run, dropping the lone loss to Jacob Volkmann in the UFC via split-decision. However, he’s coming off of a submission loss by strike to Shinya Aoki at DREAM 18. The MMA vet will look to start another winning-streak as he welcomes Gonazalez into his first big-promotional fight when they scrap at WSOF 4.
Gonzalez, who is an undefeated at 8-0, is a two-time California state high-school wrestling champion who made his pro MMA debut in September of 2011. Since then, the 25-year-old has posted seven stoppages (five submissions) in eight career victories. Gonzalez will be heading into his first WSOF fight after earning his first decision victory over the then-undefeated Emmanuel Sanchez at a May 3 regional show in California. The Turlock, California native will look to keep his undefeated record in tact with a victory over the seasoned McKee in his WSOF debut on August 10th.
The WSOF 4 card now includes the following:
