Anthony Pettis: ‘My Striking Is Better Than Melendez”

By BJPENN.COM News - April 3, 2014

“He is a good opponent but he won’t fight against me like he did against Diego Sanchez. I’m going for the knockout or the submission. I won my last three fights in the first round and I’m coming to win. Melendez has what it needs to be at the top of division, he is there for a reason. He did a good fight against Ben Henderson and beat Diego but I feel that my striking is better than his. I have kicks, punches, reach in my favour and my striking is better. I have to avoid the takedowns and be sure that I will fight my fight.”

UFC lightweight champion, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis, tells, Brazil’s Tatame.com, that he believes he has the striking advantage over his next opponent, Gilbert Melendez.

The two fighters will coach TUF 20 and then face off at the UFC’s year end show this December.
