Anthony Johnson discusses high-stakes fight with Ryan Bader

By bjpenndotcom - January 27, 2016

Saturday’s ‘UFC on FOX 18’ scrap between Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader very well may decide who gets to fight the winner of Jones vs. Cormier II later this year.

Johnson is coming off a 2nd round KO win over Jimi Manuwa that put him back in the win column after losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 for the UFC light heavyweight championship.

Bader on the other hand is riding a 5 fight win streak that most recently saw him pick up a unanimous decision win over Rashad Evans. Heading into his bout with Johnson, UFC President Dana White has stated that Bader will get the next title shot if he defeats ‘Rumble’.

Johnson spoke to UFC.com to discuss his mindset going into the fight.

“If he wins this fight then he gets a title shot and, if I lose, I don’t get a title shot. All I know is that I have to go out there and do my thing. That’s what I’ve been focused on. I just have to go out there and be myself. Of course, I believe I can knock out anybody that I fight. I’m not saying I’ve always been successful, but I believe 95 percent of the time I have a good chance of knocking you out. But I’m not going in there thinking I’m just going to knock him out. I’m going in there and thinking I seriously have to fight this guy and beat him up so I can win. That’s it.”
