Yancy Medeiros failed his post-fight drug test following November’s UFC Fight for the Troops 3 event that took place at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority, the commission who oversaw the card, ruled Medeiro’s first-round knockout victory a No-Contest.
UFC officials confirmed with MMAjunkie that Medeiros tested positive for marijuana metabolites, that he would serve a 90-day suspension and that his win from the November card was overturned.
“UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout against Yves Edwards at UFC Fight for the Troops 3,” the UFC’s statement read. “He agreed to and served a 90-day suspension retroactive to the event, and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again.”
The 90-day suspension concluded earlier this month, so Medeiro’s next bout against Joe Ellenberger at UFC 172 in April will go on unimpeded.Tags: mma, MMA NEWS, ufc, ufc fight for the troops, UFC Fight for the troops 3, ufc fight night 31, ufc news, Yancy Medeiros, Yves Edwards
