Anderson Silva Say’s There’s A ‘Great Chance’ He Stops Fighting

Anderson “The Spider” Silva, who faces Chris Weidman this Saturday at UFC 168 have met before. In their first battle that took place six months ago at UFC 162, Silva, who is touted by many as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, taunted and mocked Weidman before being knocked unconscious by a left hook.

Apparently, that defeat prompted thoughts of retirement. Ariel Helwani spoke with Silva, and asked Silva what if he was thinking about retiring after the knockout loss. “We’re always close to stopping. We’re always close to calling it quits,” Silva said through a translator.

Silva also said that he could possibly retire after UFC 168. “I don’t know. I have a great, great chance for stopping the fight[ing],” he said.

Silva also mentioned that it does not bother him that he is no longer the champion, and he doesn’t miss it.

With all this talk of retirement though, Silva is still looking to make a statement this Saturday. “The UFC has the new champion,” he said. For Saturday, I [will] change [that].”
