Alistair Overeem has signed with VFD Marketing. BloodyElbow.com first reported the news.
Overeem has had a tumultuous few years in the management world, first calling it quits with his longtime management team, Golden Glory (which turned into a legal dispute that had to be settled out-of-court), and then most recently exiting from Authentic Sports Management, to sign with VFD.
Overeem had this to say about his move to VFD Marketing:
“While I made some good friends in the process and have a lot of respect for (ASM’s) Glenn Robinson, I felt it was time to move forward into a more structured business environment catered to my specific needs,” Overeem said. “I am fully confident that making this move is the best choice for me at this point in my career.”
When we last saw Overeem in the cage, he was cautiously battering Frank Mir in route to a safely-fought decision win. After the fight, Overeem explained that he was fighting a more conservative fight, in order to protect his fragile employment with the UFC after back-to-back losses put him on the chopping block.
