I know that most people are not giving Alistair Overeem a chance at being back in the UFC. I also know that Dana White is very upset about Overeem’s failed drug test. No worries folks, this is not the first fighter to fail a drug test and return to the UFC.
It was no surprise that Chael Sonnen decided to defend Overeem for failing his drug test, because he too served a suspension for a failed urinalysis. Chael did his time and now is back in one of the biggest fights of the year when he faces Anderson Silva in a rematch at UFC 148.
Dana White is upset now because he had to scramble to replace Alistair at the upcoming PPV at UFC 148. It may be a blessing in disguise and after he has time to cool down and see’s that everyone is just as excited for the Frank Mir vs. JDS Heavyweight Championship match, I’m sure Dana will have a change in heart.
This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time that a fighter fails a drug test for elevated testosterone levels. With a sport where every advantage counts, your going to have people trying new things and not knowing what they are taking.
To me, there is no doubt that Alistair will get another shot, in a division that is in need of a superstar like Overeem. When it’s all said and done, the UFC is about putting on great fights the fans want to see. If he passes future tests and gets his license back, there is no reason we will not see Alistair Overeem in the UFC again.
What do you think, have we seen the last of Alistair Overeem?Tags: featured, MMA NEWS, Strikeforce, strikeforce news, ufc news, UFC on FOX, UFC on FOX 2, ufc on fox 3, UFC on Fuel, UFC on FX
