On last weeks episode of TUF Brazil Team Wanderlei claimed their first victory of the season when Rony Jason defeated his friend Gasparzinho via armbar in the first round.

This weeks episode picked up where we left off last week with Wanderlei & Belfort in a heated argument about Belfort matching up Featherweights Gasparzinho & Rony Jason, we move to this weeks fight announcement next.

At the fight announcement Wanderlei states he has just seen two good friends fight each other and Belfort denies he knew they were friends. Wanderlei feels it’s bad for the sport to have friends fighting and states “I’d never fight a friend for all the money in the game,” whereas Belfort says it’s a competition and they knew what they were getting themselves into.

This weeks bout Francisco Massaranduba of Team Wanderlei vs. Thiago Bodao of Team Belfort.

Next we learn some facts about both fighters, Bodao had a tumour in his shoulder and doctors gave his mother little hope of any recovery & at the same time his brother was also dealing with leukaemia. His mother is his hero for working and supporting them. Massaranduba grew up on farms and loves spending time with his family and when he fights his family and friends come together to watch on TV. His friends and family also assisted in helping him to pay to come and chase his dream of receiving a UFC contract.

At the house Team Belfort is making fun of Wanderlei and Team Wanderlei wants them to keep the noise down so that Massaranduba can rest. Next up the weigh-ins.

At the weigh-ins Massaranduba (184) Bodao (185) both fighters make weight and we move to the fight.

Fight Time : Francisco Massaranduba (10-1) vs. Thiago Bodao (8-1)

Both fighters measure with pawing jabs, in the first minute of the fight neither man has taken control. Bodao begins to throw some leg kicks and Massaranduba initiates a clinch. Bodao lands a few shots and gets some space and throws a nice body kick, Massaranduba comes back with some punches of his own and attempts a single leg takedown however can’t get it and eventually pulls guard. Bodao works his way back to his feet quickly and they return to the clinch against the cage, neither fighter is doing anything in the clinch and they are reset. Bodao quickly initiates another clinch and pushes Massaranduba to the cage landing some knees before the end of the round.

Both men come out swinging and Bodao shoots for a takedown however is unsuccessful. Bodao attempts to throw a knee while still clinched and slips, Massaranduba gains top position in Bodao’s guard landing some nice shots. Bodao manages to gain butterfly guard and works to gain some space and gets back to his feet, both men clinch again Massaranduba with his back on the cage and Bodao lands some knees and body shots. Massaranduba attempts to take Bodao down with no success and is pressed back up against the cage with ease. Massaranduba attempts another takedown with no success this time it goes to the floor and Bodao gains the top position and throws a flurry of punches and is close to taking the mount before Massaranduba ties up a leg. Bodao keeps Massaranduba under control landing some shots before the end of the round.

Bodao clearly won the second round and edged the first in my opinion however the fight goes to a third round.

Massaranduba is exhausted and can barely move from the stool. Team Wanderlei and coaches try to encourage him to get up for the third round. He gets up and is wobbly eventually falling to a knee and even Bodao is trying to encourage him to get up and fight but Massaranduba is unable to get up and the fight is called off.

Winner Thiago Bodao def. Francisco Massaranduba via retirement round 2 (5.00).

Bodao dedicates the win to his wife and says they will now work on having a baby. Wanderlei is proud of Massaranduba and says he has the heart of a lion.

Team Belfort gets back to winning ways and moves to (6-1). Only one quarter-final bout remains which pits Pe De Chumbo of Team Wanderlei against Sergio Serginho of Team Belfort.
