Forrest Griffin in an interview with TATAME.
“It’s going to be the best fight ever. I’m gonna fight my face off and that’s all. For real.”
Ortiz suggested that Griffin should also retire after the bout. However Griffin has no plans of retiring any time soon.
“No. Not my last fight, Tito’s last fight. I’ll keep fighting. People say if I lose I’m gonna quit, but no. I’m still not gonna quit, but if I just win it’ll make it easier on everybody.”
When asked about his motivation for the bout with Ortiz.
“I’m very motivated. I tried to be nice and say nice things about Mr. Ortiz and talk about he’s a legend and he just said I’m kind of a p–sy, so f–k him.”
“Chael did really good the first time and nobody saw that coming, so maybe he can do it again. We’ll see. Anderson’s still the best, but we’ll see. I don’t know.”
“It’s definitely going to be the same game plan for him. He’s gonna come out and be aggressive, go for it and try not to give Anderson any space.”
“It’s about the only time I’ve seen Anderson angry. When he fought me, he was nice to me. He was all “hi, how you doing?” He mad. He’s talking bad about Brazil, a mistake. I wouldn’t have done that.”
In his last bout Griffin was knocked out in the first round by Maurício Rua at UFC 134 in Brazil. When asked if he would like to fight in Brazil again his answer was simple “no”.
“No man (laughs). I don’t wanna fight in Brazil, I don’t wanna fight Brazilians in Brazil. Let they come here, do the hard work and travel (laughs).”
After putting to bed rumors of his retirement Griffin was asked how he would defeat the current Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
“I believe I’d poison him, make him sick before the fight. I believe that’s how I’d get him (laughs).”
