Alistair Overeem will face Travis Browne on UFC on FOX Sports 1 at TD Garden in Boston on Aug. 17. Overeem (36-12-1) was previously scheduled to fight at UFC 164 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on Aug. 31.
UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie.com that the fight will be a part of the main card, but it will not be the main event.
Overeem lost his last fight at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar against Antonio Silva in February via knockout in the third round. He was scheduled to fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2 this Saturday, but was forced out because of injury.
Browne (14-1-1) won his last fight in the UFC. He defeated Gabriel Gonzaga via knockout in the first round at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. Before that, he lost to Silva as well. Silva defeated Browne via technical knockout in the first round at UFC on FX 5: Browne vs. Bigfoot last October.
Silva will face UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez for the belt this Saturday at UFC 160.Tags: alistair overeem, Antonio Silva, Gabriel Gonzaga, Junior Dos Santos, MMA NEWS, travis browne, ufc news, UFC on FOX Sports 1
