As many know, this Saturday’s ‘UFC Fight Night: Hendricks vs. Thompson’ fight card on Fox Sports 1 was initially UFC 196.

The event was supposed to be headlined by Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez as they compete for the UFC heavyweight championship. Ultimately however injuries forced Velasquez, and then Werdum as well, off the card. After a brief scramble that saw Nate Diaz offer to fight Anthony Pettis on short notice, the UFC promoted the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson to the main event, and made the card free on Fox Sports 1.

Since then however Fabricio Werdum has caught criticism from many fans for what they believed to be him ducking Stipe Miocic, who was selected by the UFC to fill in for Cain Velasquez after he was forced out of the bout.

Werdum joined Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping on UFC Tonight to discuss why he withdrew from the bout.
