Jon Jones reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight championship at last night’s UFC 214 event in Anaheim, this after scoring a third-round TKO victory over Daniel Cormier in the evenings main event.

After two closely contested rounds, “Bones” was able to find a home for a crushing head kick early in round three which left Cormier staggered and on wobbly legs. Jones would immediately rush after “DC” and get him to the octagon canvas where he proceeded to unleash some brutal ground and pound which forced the referee to step in and call a stop to the action.

Following his thrilling stoppage victory over Cormier, Jon Jones delivered a very emotional post-fight interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan where he attempted to squash his long time beef with “DC”.

“I just want to take this time to thank Daniel Cormier. For being my biggest rival and motivator. Daniel Cormier, guys, he has absolutely no reason to hang his head. He has been a model champion. A model husband,a model father, a teammate, a leader and I aspire to be a lot more like that man because he’s an amazing human being. Unfortunately we were opponents but outside of that, he is a true champion for the rest of his life!”

Daniel Cormier would later take to the microphone where he had the following conversation with Joe Rogan.

Joe Rogan: “Daniel give us your thoughts right now.”

Daniel Cormier: “I don’t know man.. Um, I thought the fight was going well. I don’t even know what happened. I guess I got kicked in the head? Oh man, that is so disappointing.”

Joe Rogan: “I don’t think it is a good idea to interview fighters after they have been knocked out, but I really wanted to give you a chance to express yourself. I know this is an incredible moment for you. It is very emotional. What can you say at all about this and the rivalry between you and Jon (Jones)?”

Daniel Cormier: “I don’t know man. I guess if he wins both fights there is no rivalry so… I don’t know.”

Joe Rogan: “Thank you for everything Daniel.”
