The Diaz brothers are known for their fighting spirit both inside and outside of the Octagon.
A crazy melee then spilled out into the casino and hotel lobby outside of the WSOF event where it looked like a war zone.
Nate and Khabib had some history with going at it on social media prior to the event and things erupted when they ran into each other at the WSOF event.
It seems a handy weapon of choice for Team Diaz is a nice cold beverage.
Remember the water bottle war between Team Diaz and Team McGregor during the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference? Although there were a few more objects including rolls of tape and energy drink cans being thrown at that incident, in this video from the altercation between Team Diaz and Team Nurmagomedov, you can see Nick throw a cold one right at Khabib.
“[Diaz] thinks he’s cool or something there,” Khabib told Sports.ru (translated by Bloody Elbow). “But I believe I have more spirit and courage, and I can prove it anywhere. Of course, I did not want to do it on the street. I am a professional fighter. But when we were in street fight, it was self-defense. I am a Samboist and Sambo is all “self-defense without weapons,” so I just defended myself.”
“I do not see anyone who could get into my head. For all the 27 years that I have lived, I fought on the street when I was young, and competed with all the best fighters in the world. For me, someone wants to fight, not a problem, I’m psychologically balanced in terms of spirit will not lose to anyone.”
Since the incident with Nurmagomedov, Nate has been able to load up his bank account in his two fights with Conor McGregor and is waiting for a trilogy fight with the Irish superstar unless another big money fight presents itself. Do you think a match against Khabib Nurmagomedov has the potential to bring in the cash Nate Diaz is looking for? Sound off in the comments!
