Nate Diaz admits that he isn’t into many sports outside of MMA and doesn’t get starstruck very often, even at NFL Superbowl parties.

However, Diaz says that was a big 49ers fan growing up in California and was always rooting for NFL legends Jerry Rice and Steve Young.

In a recent interview, Diaz talks about turning down the opportunity with friends to get a photo with Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin due to the rivalry between the 49ers and Cowboys.

However, Diaz was heartbroken when he found out that Rice was a fan of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor ahead of his bout with “The Notorious” at UFC 196.

Rice tweeted a couple days before UFC 196, “Is Conor McGregor fight this weekend? He can talk and walk the walk! Conor McGregor! I’d love to fight myself if I really could. Imagine the numbers that one would do. If there was two of me.#funny”

Diaz talks about the moment he saw this on twitter and was baffled by it.

Fortunately for Diaz, he was able to overcome McGregor in their fight by submitting him in the second round.

Now that Diaz shows that he is more than capable of talking the talk and backing it up over the most outspoken athlete in the sport, perhaps he will get some love from Rice on his next fight.

Diaz and McGregor are reportedly in the works for an immediate rematch slated for UFC 200. Follow BJPENN.COM for updates and an official announcement from the UFC.
